I have always found the Praying Mantis to be one of the most fascinating creatures of the insect world. With the ability to turn their alien-like heads 180 degrees to take in their surroundings, the mantis definitely looks as if it is from Out of This World.

Today is January 20 and the winter doldrums are settling in. I am beginning to miss my warm weather pond friends. Even though I know they are burrowed somewhere snuggly and safe, I’m anxiously awaiting their happy return. See you soon, guys.
